Hi everyone, how’s your 2016 so far? I hope you’re all staying healthy. I used to be quite proud to be someone who very rarely got sick, and full confession, I’ve been judgemental of people who get sick, as if it’s somehow their own doing. I know, not nice at all. I completely take back all of my judgement because I’ve been suffering from the cold that just won’t end for over a week. Part of the reason I haven’t felt better is because I haven’t given myself the chance to fully recover. I’ve worked every day, I’ve gone out, I’ve stayed up late, and there has been so much going on. One of the worst parts of being sick – besides everything being about 3x harder – is that my voice is different and my hearing is distorted. I could be imagining it, but I feel like people have been asking me to repeat things more than usual. Ugh. Everything takes so much more effort when you’re not at 100%. I hope you’re all getting enough rest and that your immune systems are working!
Let’s talk about today’s look. I love collars and lapels. This tuxedo sheath dress is in a deep rich navy that’s pretty on its own and contrasts nicely with the black satin tuxedo lapel. When I first tried it on I was surprised by how low the v neck is – way too low for me to be able to wear to work – so I decided I’d add a button later to close it up a bit. In the meantime, I’m wearing it with J. Crew’s stretch suiting tee underneath, a workwear basic that I highly recommend that I also own in white (worn here and here). I actually like how it looks with a layer underneath so much that I might not even add a button. When the dress is worn as is without any extra coverage, it’s actually really sexy. Like something Selena Gomez might wear to an event. So we’ll see, I might just leave it as is and wear the sexy version out sometime!
