A zip-up portfolio is the perfect accessory to the professionally sexy suit. It is sleek, slim, and carries everything you need for professional activities without the risk of things falling out. I own one from Staples that looks very similar to the one below, and I continue to use it frequently for everything from interviews to conferences to out-of-office meetings. I use it to hold a pad of paper, business cards, documents, pens, and my cellphone. When I don’t want to carry anything else, I also put the contents of my wallet inside. Ladies, this is a much better option than carrying around a big purse.
Staples Deluxe Bi-Fold Padfolio, $19.95CAD
I think the $20 portfolio from Staples is sexy, functional, and very well priced. I have used mine for three years and it looks very new. If you want one made of real leather, Coach makes one that I’ve seen and liked. Coach bags are acceptable at best, and I can’t stand the way they plaster their logo over everything. This portfolio, however, is well-made and professional-looking. The leather feels thick and durable. Yes, the price is outrageous for what you’re getting (like everything else they make), but I saw it two weeks ago in an outlet mall in Washington so call your nearest Coach outlet.
