Whenever I have trouble deciding what to work for work I always turn to the tried and true formula of workwear: blouse + pencil skirt. There are so many variations of this outfit that you can be stylish while staying within the boundaries of professional attire. Here I’ve worn a Club Monaco pencil skirt which, with the leather piping down the sides, adds style and sophistication to the traditional grey pencil. I wore a patterned Tory Burch blouse showing through a J. Crew vneck, which I can wear on its own tucked in if it gets too warm. I can also wear the reverse with a patterned sweater on top of a plain blouse. [blouse + pencil skirt = endless possibilities], am I right? Yeah yeah I’m a nerd. What do you think? Do you wear this combination to work?
In other news, I’ve been sick since Saturday :(. I took the day off Friday to go skiing, which was fantastic (I highly recommend going on a weekday), then spent the rest of my long weekend fighting whatever this is, a cold/congestion/headache/sneeze-attack/eye-ache. I pride myself on rarely taking a sick day. I drink a green smoothie every day (kale, spinach, avocado, carrot, banana, nuts, etc.), exercise, and sleep-binge whenever I feel something coming on. The other thing is that I normally work through discomfort, which I probably shouldn’t do since that’s how things spread in offices. In any case, I definitely have something now, and it’s totally wiped me out. There’s also something wrong with my right eye, because it’s sore (and causing the right side of my face and head to be sore as well), extremely sensitive to light (I have my screen and phone on the dimmest setting and can’t look at it for very long), and tears up so much that I literally have tears streaming down my face every half an hour. I see my doctor in the morning, so hopefully I can get back to normal soon.
In other other news, I did a photoshoot with fashion blogger Jen from Her Waise Choice, which you can see on her blog here. It was a lot of fun shooting with her and chatting with her. I loved being behind the lens and look forward to doing it more often.
Take care, and have a great day!
