I’m wearing a J.Crew silk blouse (on sale), J. Crew cropped pants, Armani glasses, Saint Laurent clutch (patent leather version here), and Saint Laurent pumps. Has anyone shopped the 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target collection yet?
I’ve been having one of those weeks, no, months, where I feel like I’m being pulled in a hundred different directions. I’ve been overbooked and overwhelmed, and it’s not a coincidence that I haven’t worn my runners or spoken to my trainer in over a month, and I can’t even look at my Sleep Cycle history without cringing at the number of hours logged. And what does it say when I can’t even find a free evening to book a massage appointment? But, you know, at the end of the day, I am so thankful for my job and the opportunities that it provides, and I choose to dedicate time to this blog because I love being creative, communicating with all of you who visit, and having this space that I can call my own. I think it’s a balancing act that will take some conscious effort in prioritization and being efficient. What I’ve learned so far is to really focus on whatever it is that I’m doing. When I’m working, I’m working, and when I want to relax and read for pleasure, then I focus on doing that. How about you? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Some high and low craziness just in the last week alone:
– I had no sooner solved a double scheduling issue where I had to make a presentation on Vancouver Island at the same time that I had to call in to a meeting in downtown Vancouver than realize that I had booked a work trip in Northern BC from Friday-Monday on the same weekend that my best friend Alyssa was coming back to Vancouver to attend a wedding, for which I was to be her plus one, and which I’d known about for months. Brain, where you at? Calendars, why you no synch? My travel agent is trying to find me a flight for right after the wedding as I type this, so we shall see. I think it will all be okay.
– My car was broken into and a few things were stolen. Everything’s replaceable but it’s unnerving when strangers go through your things with the intent to steal. I’m thankful that there was no visible vehicle damage.
– A huge highlight of the week for me was putting in an order of soccer jerseys and socks for my soccer team. Oh, soccer. I love my soccer team. I think everyone should be a part of a sports team. It really is the best thing ever. Speaking of soccer, our first game of the fall season is this Thursday, but guess what, I have to miss the first half due to the aforementioned trip to the Island. Sigh, it’s all good though. I’ll change on the ferry and go straight to the game. Back to the topic of jerseys! I was so excited when I received sponsorship to buy jerseys and socks and it was so much fun to pick out a style. I bought these jerseys in Royal blue with matching socks. What do you think? I chose expedited shipping because I cannot wait to give everyone their jerseys! Just the thought of it gets me giddy.
– I went out to buy a component for my PC and came back with a brand new 27” iMac. It was not planned. Every night and morning when I sit down to blog I am so impressed by the screen. There are a few things I can’t yet get my iMac to do but I will ask around and figure it out. The only thing with an iMac though – I can’t, like, take it to a coffee shop and pretend to do work.
