I had the most relaxing Saturday last weekend. I spent some long-overdue quality time with the boyfriend, whom I’ve been apart from for three weeks due to our travel schedules and whom I’ve missed so very much. It was also my first real break after two weeks of non-stop traveling and work, so it was a wonderful day in many ways. For my day-date I wore a comfortable and slimming jersey maxi skirt like this one, a simple but high quality grey tee like this one, and my new Tory Burch bag which adds a pop of colour to every outfit.
We walked around Vancouver’s Granville Island, had my favourite chai latte at Granville Island Tea Company (seriously the best in the city), checked out live crabs and lobsters at the fish vendors (we decided that we would attempt to cook live crab very soon), debated buying these gorgeous raspberries that were big and juicy looking but costed an arm and a leg (decided against it), and had a delicious dinner of fish and chips, shellfish, and seafood cioppino at a restaurant called Tony’s Fish & Oyster Cafe that for some reason has escaped my radar until that night but which I will definitely return to because it’s such great food and value. We ended the night downtown and sought out different options for dessert before deciding on Thierry Chocolates, but not before we walked by Tiffany & Co where I ooed and ahhed over the new Tiffany T collection in their window display. We shared an apple tart and a slice of chocolate marquise, a rich combination of hazelnut, caramel, crisp praline and chocolate mousse, talked, laughed, and took our sweet time walking back to the car.
I’m curious – have you ever cooked live crab? Any advice?
