One of my favorite things to do on weekends is to go for brunch with friends and family. Vancouver has a lot of amazing spots but my first choice is always La Pentola inside Opus Hotel in Yaletown. One to two times a year my mom and I go on a major shopping trip downtown where we start first thing in the morning, visit all my favorite shops in city center, then take a taxi to Opus Hotel where we talk and laugh over a delicious brunch at whatever chic iteration the restaurant is in at that time. The restaurant operates like a pop-up shop, where it completely rebrands, renames, and transforms itself about once a year. We started going there for brunch back when it was called 100 Days, which changed to 100 Nights, then Cento Notti, and now La Pentola. Even though I get a little sad every time they go through a rebrand I am always impressed when the new concept is revealed. I love visiting La Pentola for its decor, its relative quietness compared to the crowds in downtown, its always-delicious menus, the unassuming service, and what I find to be reasonable prices. Sometimes my mom and I don’t end buying anything on our shopping trip, but for me it’s the time that we spent together that I value. I look forward to the next time I visit La Pentola with her or with friends, and if you haven’t been, I highly recommend it.
