Rain or Shine Workwear – Sweater Coat, Pencil Skirt, and Ankle Boots

The rain in Vancouver is making my photoshoots just a little bit challenging as you can see, but the photos are certainly representative of what it looks like on an average day here in the fall. It’s still a beautiful city. I just wish I wouldn’t lose my expensive umbrellas all the time.

I’m obsessed with two things right now. One, the sweater-sleeve coat that I’m wearing, which has the structured and tailored feel of a regular coat but with the warmth and snuggability of a sweater. Amazing. It’s different than any other coat that I own. I’m wearing the size XXS for size reference.

Two, Commando’s dig-free tights.  I started wearing tights so I could wear dresses and skirts into the fall and winter, but after many uncomfortable experiences just the thought of wearing tights was enough to make me change into pants. I’ve worn tights that were so tight around my waist that I had trouble focusing at work, tights that gave me an unattractive bulge that made me look like I had a muffin top, tights that were too long and had too much extra fabric, tights that were hard to pull up, you get the picture. The ladies at MM.Lafleur told me that they sampled everything from drugstore tights to $70/pair Wolford tights in the search for the perfect pair and the Commando tights won for comfort, durability and warmth. Thanks to the wonderful MM.Lafleur ladies and their research I no longer get anxiety about wearing tights. Commando tights are comfortable, smooth (no muffin top!), and made with thick fabric that doesn’t snag easily. When I wear them I can actually breathe and don’t get reminded every minute that I’m wearing tights. At $30-$40 they are not cheap, but worth it for the comfort.
