I discovered Emerson Fry‘s line about two years ago, back when it was called EmersonMade, and it was one of those brands that I immediately loved and aspired to wear. It was out of my price range at the time but I knew that I would eventually have a growing collection of her pieces as I advanced in my life and career. I love her focus on quality, timelessness, and function, and I feel that she truly understands what real women feel great wearing in their busy lives. She described the woman that she designs for as a woman that has to “get out the door and feel polished and prepared enough, she’s got to love what she’s wearing enough each morning to then forget about what she’s wearing and live her life. She’s got a full life, a lot of responsibilities, goals and desires, a lot of things to acquire and accomplish.” (source). I love it.
I’m not going to lie, I can list her entire fall collection from memory, and I bought the navy peacoat the day after it was released. It’s beautiful and warm and random strangers come up to me to touch it. The menswear-inspired cufflink shirt has the coolest vintage cufflinks, and now I want to add cufflinks to all my dress shirts. Right now I have these gorgeous ankle boots and this cozy sweater in my shopping bag and I can’t wait for the release of her new bag line.
Fun fact: I own chickens, and so do Emerson Fry and her husband!
