Hello there! As you have probably seen from Instagram, where I’ve been posting a lot of stories, Damon and I are in Japan! So far we’ve been to Tokyo and Kyoto and we are currently in Osaka. After three nights in the Dotonburi district – the major tourist destination that never sleeps – we moved to a business hotel in Chuo-ku, Osaka’s financial district, for a change of scenery and pace. The vibe is totally different here: Salary men, salary women, business buildings, stores that sell bespoke suits instead of plastic tempura keychains, stores that close well before 4am, and much more expensive lunches (the only downside).

I wore this outfit on Saturday when I made a trip by myself to the Shiga prefecture (about an hour away by train) to visit my former hairstylist Michiyo whom I haven’t seen in about 7 years. We had an amazing visit and I loved seeing her beautiful new salon. I wore a custom made bell-sleeve coat, similar to this one and this one, a MM.LaFleur top and Club Monaco striped dress (without the ruching). More importantly though, I’m wearing two things that I bought in Japan! First, I bought the shearling tote that I’m carrying. It was one of those items that comes in a box for easy gifting (#onlyinJapan), sold next to magazines. Second, I’m wearing Japan’s Number 1 lipstick and lipcolor: Opera Tint Oil Rouge Lip Tint Color in No.5 Coral Pink. I didn’t hesitate to buy this because the style in Japan so closely matches my own (ie. conservative), and Japanese skin tone is the same as mine. I was right, because I love the color, the smooth texture, and how it left my lips feeling. I went back and bought several more for my aunties and cousins.

Let me know if there’s anything we must-must-must do in Osaka and Tokyo! And stay tuned, I will dedicate a post to the sparkly thing on my finger 🙂 (you can see this post in the meantime).

Bell-sleeve coat (similar here & here) / MM.LaFleur Didion top (I wore it in this post and this post) / Club Monaco striped dress (similar here, here & here) / Shearling tote bag (similar here & here) / Gorjana ball necklace / Le Specs sunglasses / Daniel Wellington watch / Opera lipstick in No. 5 Coral Pink (Japan’s Number 1 lipstick and color. I highly recommend it!).
