When Damon and I moved four months ago we didn’t bring any furniture with us from our old place. We were excited to get new pieces that fit with the style and space of our new place, including a new king sized bed (an upgrade from a queen). We originally wanted to buy a hotel-branded mattress, but it was very expensive and trying to find one with the same specs took me down an internet rabbit hole of model numbers, forums, and confusing information. Not my cup of tea. Then I looked into the online, mattress-in-a-box, industry-disrupter brands.
After doing research and reading reviews, I learned about a brand called Leesa that I didn’t know of before. They offered free shipping and returns to Canada and a 100 night trial. The Leesa mattress is made of a 3-layer construction consisting of a cooling foam layer, a memory foam layer, and a dense core support. Reviews put it on the slightly firmer end of the scale, which was what I wanted. It doesn’t require a box spring, which was perfect because the bed frame we ordered is built with a slat system. I confidently placed my order (I paid full price), thinking that if it didn’t work out I can easily coordinate a pick up from my home for a full refund.
Our Leesa mattress was delivered at 5pm on our first day in our new place (we refreshed the UPS tracking page every half hour that day), and we filmed a hyperlapse video of the straightforward and quick set up, which you can watch on my Instagram here. Prior to that night I’d had weeks of poor sleep due to stress from moving, noise from downtown sirens and traffic, and everything else going on in my life. After our first night sleeping on the Leesa, Damon and I both woke up for work feeling incredibly rested, happy, and at home. Our necks and backs felt great. It’s the perfect firmness for us and it works for back-sleepers (Damon) and side-sleepers (me).
For several weeks we slept on our Leesa mattress on the floor of our bedroom and it was our only piece of furniture as none of our other furniture had arrived yet. I look back on that time fondly. Our kitchen was still being finished and none of our appliances were hooked up so we had breakfast at Starbucks every morning before work. We had nowhere to sit other than our mattress so we went on a lot of walks outside. We explored our new neighborhood in perfect summer weather and came back to home to read, work, and watch movies on our bed.
From the first night in July until now, we’ve loved sleeping on our Leesa and we believe it’s made a big improvement in the quality of our sleep. We like it so much that we bought a queen sized Leesa for our guest bedroom and recommend it to all of our family and friends. We had a very easy experience buying and setting up the mattress and it was so convenient compared to the traditional method of going to a mattress store and then arranging for delivery. They even donate one mattress for every ten sold. If you’re thinking that it’s time for a new mattress, we definitely recommend the Leesa. Use the code JENNYLIU for $100 off the mattress in the US and $130 CAD off in Canada.
Special offer (for US): From now until Black Friday, Leesa is offering their most significant offer ever: $125 off the Leesa mattress + a free pillow (a $200 offer).

Love these photos and your detailed review! The mattress looks great even without sheets on it yet.
