Hi everyone! Have you transitioned from vacation-mode back to work-mode? Yesterday was my first day back at work after the holidays, and man oh man, it was crazy! 140+ emails plus a very long to-do list. I write down my top 3 priorities every day (like Ivy Lee recommended to the CEO of Bethlehem Steel) but unfortunately it’s never just 3 priorities, and sometimes what’s urgent takes precedent over what’s most important. Also, it’s shocking how hard it is to get through just those 3 things on some days. I’ve learned that the best strategy is to never put anything off that can be done that day, because whatever free time you think you have the next day will be spoken for by something unexpected.
One of the best things about being back at work is that soccer is back in session again. I had soccer practice last night and it was great to run outside in the crisp cold air. I’ll take outdoor exercise rain or shine over the gym any day, and team sports is one of the greatest experiences life has to offer, I mean it. One of my favorite things to do after games and practice (and anytime really) is to go for frozen yogurt. The closest one to my soccer practice is the Menchies on Cambie, and you’d think it was the city’s hottest weeknight date spot with all the dressed up girls next to way-less-dressed-up guys, and there I am with my cleats, mud splattered socks, and crazy froyo-hungry eyes. Frozen yogurt is not cheap, so in order to afford this habit I’ve realized it’s much cheaper to leave out the toppings and add them later at home. Sour keys and berries weight a lot so I have my own condiments bar (fridge) at home with fresh raspberries and sour candies. Nevermind that I paid like $8 for my box of raspberries, I’m totally saving money!
As you all know I’m a huge fan of Emerson Fry, so it was with great excitement that I welcomed the Notch boots to my wardrobe. I love the sleek pointed toe and the unique cutout detail. My Club Monaco Danton calf hair skirt has the richest texture and the most gorgeous deep midnight blue color. And of course, J. Crew is as J. Crew does – the contract collar topcoat goes with everything and adds the chicest structure and elegance.
