Have your ordered your October Mapleblume box yet? It’s packed with a combination of skincare and beauty products. I love the richness of the ingredients in all the products. This month’s box is perfectly suited for the needs of our skin during fall weather. Subscribe here. Here is the roundup of lovely products in the October 2018 “Autumn Allure” fall Mapleblume box:
Feature product: Pai Skincare Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil (value $40)
Inlight Beauty Facial Cleanser (value $65)
Lavido Alert Eye Cream (value $63.78)
Vapour Organic Beauty Halo Illuminator (value $47)
Vapour Organic Beauty Mesmerize Eye Color in Ace (value $28)
The feature product is the beautiful deep orange oil in the glass dropper bottle, the Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil made by Pai Skincare in London. It’s loaded with Omega 3, 6, 7, and 9 to regenerate skin. I believe less is more, which is demonstrated in this particular facial oil which only contains four ingredients: rosehip seed extract, rosehip fruit extract, natural vitamin E, and rosemary extract.
My experience was consistent with the across-the-board positive reviews online. I pressed the oil into my skin at night after cleansing, used the Lavido Alert Eye Cream from this month’s box, didn’t use anything else, and woke up with soft, healthy and glowing skin. I’ve also massaged the oil into my scalp a few times before bed (I shower in the morning), which can get irritated and dry during the fall. I think it really helped the condition of my scalp and made it feel comfortable and healthy. If you can get a partner to massage it in your scalp, even better (who doesn’t love head massages?).
If you’re new to Mapleblume or Pai Skincare, I also recommend the Chamomile and Rosehip Day Cream.
The next gorgeous product from the October box is the Inlight Beauty Facial Cleanser. I was introduced to Inlight Beauty exactly a year ago in last October’s Mapleblume box, which featured the Super Food Mask. The Super Food Mask was amazing so I was excited to try another product from the UK brand. The Inlight cleanser is a very rich cleanser which doubles as a mask. It contains 100% organic ingredients such as sesame seed oil, jojoba seed oil, olive fruit oil, coconut oil, beeswax, shea butter, lavender oil, green tea and lemon peel extract, just to name a few.
I massage a little bit of this balm all over my face and leave it on to let my skin soak up the ingredients. It works really well at dissolving makeup. My eye makeup comes off on my fingers as I apply the cleanser. It is a bit tricky to remove. It doesn’t come off with water. The instructions say “Leave for a few minutes and remove with Floral Tonic or lukewarm water followed by Floral Tonic.” I don’t have Floral Tonic, so what works for me is to spray a large cotton pad thoroughly with your favorite toner or facial mist, and use that to wipe off the cleanser. It’s so satisfying to see all the makeup and grime that comes off on the pad. Do this until you don’t see any more makeup on your cotton pad.
The Inlight Beauty Facial Cleanser is very effective at removing makeup and leaves my skin feeling amazing. I travelled for work earlier this week and was outdoors for a long time on a very windy day. My face was wrecked when I came home. Dry, flaky and dull. I used the Inlight cleanser, did a mask, and ended with the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil. My skin was totally restored.
Next up: Lavido Alert Eye Cream. It contains pomegranate seed, rosehip, citrus, aloe vera, plant-based hyaluronic acid, and cold-pressed avocado. I’ve been using this every day and I love it. It’s very lightweight and works great under my makeup. It absorbs quickly and just seems to work. My under eye area looks healthy, hydrated and less puffy.
The two beauty products in this month’s box is the Vapour Beauty Mesmerize Eye Color and Vapour Beauty Halo Illuminator. Vapour Beauty uses all-natural and organic ingredients, so you know that the makeup you put on is good for your skin. I’ll start with the eye color. The Ace color is a smoky plum shade that’s flattering, but it’s hard to apply. It takes quite a bit of pressure to deposit color on the skin, which tugs pretty hard on the eyelids. I tried applying it on my fingers first, but it didn’t work. The color that did go on my lids didn’t last long. It disappeared very quickly. I used this several times with the same result. It could be just me, a lot of people love it based on the reviews.
The Vapour Beauty Halo Illuminator gave me a better result. It doesn’t deposit a lot of product but that’s fine because you want your highlighter to be subtle. I find it works well if I apply using the edge of the product – I get a little more pressure and more product out of it that way. I apply it directly to my cheekbones after foundation and blush and use my fingers to blend if needed. I love how it highlights my cheeks and it gives me a really lovely glow. There are no issues with longevity, it stays put and gives me a glow for long enough. You can also use it to highlight your decolletage and legs. It’s a lovely product that I recommend.
The total value of the October box is $243.78, more than double the price of the box. You get some great products that you can immediately add to your beauty routine. I highly recommend the Mapleblume subscription program. It’s twice a month and so worth it. Sign up here.
