Blüh Alchemy Multi C Serum
The Multi C Serum from Blüh Alchemy is the feature product of this month’s box. It contains Kakudu plum, which is the world’s highest source of vitamin C and the world’s first stable vitamin C, meaning it won’t rapidly oxidize when exposed to water and air. The Kakudu plum is harvested by indigenous communities in Australia, and it contains over 50 times more vitamin C than a Florida orange! Ingredients also include aloe leaf juice, rose flower water, coffee bean oil, and many other natural ingredients. The Multi C serum provides protection from free radical damage and reduces signs of premature aging. The creamy-gel consistency serum activates collagen production, strengthens capillaries and protects from UV damage. No wonder it’s $205!
I was very excited about this product because it seems like the ideal wedding-prep skincare product. Like many of you, I have a demanding job. I also go to school two nights a week and I’m growing my photography business on my other evenings and weekends. It’s too easy for skincare to fall by the wayside. I really have to thank Mapleblume for keeping my skincare game strong. I love the consistency of the Multi C serum. It’s one of the most easily absorbed and comfortable serums I’ve ever tried. Is it just me or does anyone else find their skin sticky or tight with serums? Anyway, this one isn’t, and I’ve been using it morning and evening. I also use it as a spot treatment for scars I have on my arms (#weddingdress). The price tag definitely makes me feel posh. Nothing dramatic so far, but I know brightening can take time and I love how easily this serum fits into my routine.
Leahlani Skincare Mermaid Mask
The Mermaid Mask from Hawaii-based Leahlani Skincare is a cult favorite product that I’d heard of before. It’s hand-blended in Kauai and filled with two superfood ingredients, organic spirulina and chlorella, along with organic raw honey, essential oils and two types of clay. If you’re like me I bet you’re sold just on the ingredients. I was excited to see raw honey as the first ingredient. I’m a huge believer in the benefits of honey.
The Mermaid Mask is very unique, so make sure you read the instructions (I got too excited to tried to apply it straight to my face from the jar). It’s a very very thick mask so upon first use, stir well until it softens. Scoop a small amount into your fingers, emulsify, and apply to damp skin in circular motions. Let it sit for 5-15 minutes then remove with warm water.
This mask is everything. I loved the results. I think the green-smoothie ingredients and the formula really made a difference in my skin. It gave me glowing and supple skin after the first use. I loved it so much I immediately applied it to Damon’s face despite his protests. I think this mask is a reasonable price for how effective it is. Definitely give this a try.
Suntegrity LIP C.P.R. SPF 30 Lipstick
I believe in wearing sun protection on your face every day, and I believe in applying sunscreen to other exposed areas like your chest, shoulders, arms, and hands (especially when driving), but I don’t actually have any sun protection for my lips! (Ok that’s not true, I have one lip balm with SPF, but I don’t like it.) Imagine how happy I was to get a lipstick with sun protection in my Mapleblume box.
It’s the Suntegrity LIP C.P.R. SPF 30 lipstick, and it contains organic jojoba oil, shea butter, and coconut butter to smooth, hydrate, and moisturize lips. You guys, this lipstick feels like soft butter. It’s so comfortable to wear. I was cautiously excited for a sunscreen lipstick but the consistency and application of this one is amazing. It feels like your favorite lip balm, the one that quenches your lips when they’re dry, but with beautiful color and sun protection. I literally wear this to play tennis nowadays. My lips get sun protection and they look great. I also use the Suntegrity Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen, which I recommended here and here.
Rachel’s Plan Bee Coconut Beach Shimmering Body Oil
I was very impressed with the quality of the shimmer in Rachel’s Plan Bee Coconut Beach Shimmering Body Oil. It was subtle and flattering, and actually reminded me of Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body but for a fraction of the price. The shimmer is just noticeable enough. Very classy and totally wearable every day. The scent is a delicious light coconut fragrance. Great ingredients, great price, and great scent.
Pure Anada Liquid Liner in Ink
I’ve used the Pure Anada Liquid Liner for over a week, and while it takes longer to set than my usual liquid liner, I’m impressed by how smudge-proof it was. I have very teary eyes, especially in the morning, so I have to give this liner extra time to dry and set. It’s not waterproof but it’s 100% natural. This may not be as good on Asian eyes as more waterproof formulas, but it’s pretty good.
There were lots of fantastic products in the August box. Which one stood out to you? Don’t forget to order the next box on September 1st!
