I love penguins, so the cover of this book caught my attention when I was browsing at Chapters. I picked it up and started reading. When I reached the end, it brought tears so suddenly to my eyes that I put down the book in complete surprise. A children’s book has never made me cry.
It’s a simple story with few words. The watercolor artwork is gorgeous but subtle, with characters that don’t display very much emotion on their faces. The book explores the theme of companionship in a quiet but very touching way. I read it over and over again at home, tearing up more than once. I want to frame all the pages.
A great gift for parents with young children or anybody that enjoys a sweet, heart-warming story.
