Hi everyone, happy Monday! I took a small break from blogging last week because things were pretty intense at work, but I’m happy to be back and I have a lot of posts lined up!

Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Vancouver and the city looks beautiful. It’s not exactly warm yet but I didn’t freeze while shooting these photos, which is a nice change, especially compared to New York!

Weekend recap:

– I took a knife skills class at the Dirty Apron, a local cooking school, and learned how to properly cut, dice, and julienne vegetables. I’ve always struggled with cutting onions but I think I finally have it. I think I should practice like the scene in Julie and Julia where Julia Childs cuts a huge pile of onions. If you live in or are visiting Vancouver, I highly recommend the Dirty Apron’s classes. I posted photos from their brunch class here.

– My brother was in a mountain biking accident last weekend and lost one of his front teeth. He had to go to the emergency room and it was a stressful ordeal for my whole family. I’m thankful that he’s okay and has no other injuries. We’d all hoped that he would take a break (a permanent one) from mountain biking, but he went back on the trails exactly one week later. Sigh. Boys.

– I attended a charity scotch tasting event on Saturday with coworkers and had a blast. We’ve gone every year for the last three years. There’s so much going on at the event – almost 50 single malt scotch whiskies and other types of whiskies to taste, great food, a silent auction, a pipe band, and lots of people to talk to. The silent auction is one of my favorite components and I love strategizing to win the items I want. I was pleased to win a basket of four Italian and Australian wines and an acupuncture session.
