I had the pleasure of trying Thursday Plantation‘s Tea Tree Oil line, which is a natural acne range line that uses 100% pure Australian tea tree oil. I remember the first time I was introduced to tea tree oil. It was on a camping trip in highschool and one of the girls in my cabin had a whole regimen of tea tree oil products that she shared with us. It’s been a familiar scent ever since. Tea tree oil’s longevity in the skincare industry speaks to its effectiveness. It’s definitely not a ‘fad’ ingredient.
Thankfully my skin has been pretty clear lately, but I had some little bumps along my hairline probably due to the hot weather and working out. These are the products I tried, courtesy of Thursday Plantation:
Step 1: Tea Tree Face Wash Foam
Step 2: Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Toner
Step 3: Tea Tree Face Cream with Rosehip
Tea Tree Medicated Gel for Acne
Pure 100% Tea Tree Oil
Thursday Plantation’s 3 step cleanse-tone-moisturize regimen uses the natural antiseptic properties of tea tree oil to maintain clear skin. It includes a face wash foam, a toner, and a face cream. The whole regimen is simple, natural, and very affordable at $13-$16 per product.
The first thing to note is that tea tree oil has quite a strong and distinct scent that you will smell in all tea tree oil products. It’s one of those scents that will rise above any other scent and show up even in tiny concentrations. Something to keep in mind if you’re not a fan of the smell, and a bonus if you are!
The 3-step regimen is different than most acne products because it’s not drying. My least favorite thing about acne products is how stripping they are, which is counterproductive because your skin ends up producing more oil to compensate for the dryness. I love that the Thursday Plantation face wash foam, toner, and face cream were soothing and not drying at all. The foam cleanser was effective and didn’t leave my skin feeling tight. The toner was gentle and refreshing. I was most impressed by the cream, which was very moisturizing and richer than I expected it to be. It contains shea butter, rose hip oil, macadamia seed oil, orange peel oil, lavender oil and aloe leaf juice in addition to tea tree oil. It was a great everyday face cream, whether you have breakouts or not. At only $16 it’s quite a steal.
I think the regimen helped reduce my hairline breakouts and the more targeted product – the medicated acne gel – will be great to have on hand for future breakouts. The pure tea tree oil will be perfect for insect bites and burns. I have a friend who swears by tea tree oil shampoo for a healthy scalp, so I’m keen to try the Thursday Plantation shampoo.
