Mapleblume is a luxury beauty box delivered every two months, containing a combination of at least five full-size or deluxe sample-size skincare and cosmetics products made using effective organic and non-toxic ingredients. The subscription is $120 per box and past boxes have had a value of between $225-$285. It’s my favorite beauty box (read my reviews) and every two months I look forward to seeing the surprise contents inside and trying the amazing products from leading organic beauty brands. Many of the products from Mapleblume boxes have become staples in my beauty routine.
Time to show you this month’s contents!
The February Mapleblume box contents, worth $227:
- Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream – Goop [Feature Product] ($65)
- Lavido Age Away Night Cream – Goop ($61)
- Antonym Cosmetics Organic Blush Powder in Rose ($45)
- Antonym Cosmetics Blush Brush #2 ($30)
- Boosh! lipstick in Bobbie ($26)
The February box is a delight. After subscribers requested more face creams, Mapleblume delivered in a big way by including a day cream and a night cream. The two creams alone are worth more than the price of the box.
Let’s talk about the feature product, the Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream from British brand Pai, designed for people with ultra-sensitive skin. I’ve heard about Pai and seen their beautiful packaging on Instagram so I was very excited to try their day cream (it’s also featured on Goop). It comes in a super chic glass pump bottle (totally made to be displayed front and centre on your bathroom counter). Key calming ingredients include chamomile and rosehip extract to soothe irritation and reduce redness. Apricot kernel oil, jojoba seed oil, shea butter, and manuka oil (to name a few) provide omega fatty acids to deeply moisturize. It has a light chamomile smell, like the tea. I massage about 1-2 pumps into my face after cleansing in the morning, and it makes my skin look even, hydrated and soft. It says a lot about how dry Vancouver has been that I also press a drop of facial oil after the cream for some added moisture. I’m sure that once we’re over the dry winter spell, the day cream will be all I need.
Next up, the Lavido Age Away Night Cream. I was first introduced to the Israeli skincare brand Lavido through the Lavido Purifying Cleanser in the April Mapleblume box. It was fun to use two products from the same line in my nighttime beauty routine. After cleansing with the Lavido Purifying Cleanser, I massaged the Lavido Age Away Night Cream using circular upward motions as directed. The cream is very dense and creamy, and I can’t really put my finger on the fragrance but it’s kind of herby. It’s thick but it sinks right in my skin. I used the cream at night in Hawaii (Aloha from Waikiki!) and a little went a long way. It was almost too rich for the humid weather in Hawaii but back in Vancouver I use more and I also add a drop of marula oil. The Age Away Night Cream includes cold-pressed evening primrose oil, lime seed oil, and organic pomegranate seed oil. It’s labeled as a night cream, but I think you can also use this in the day because it leaves a nice matte finish.
The Antonym Cosmetics Organic Baked Blush in Rose and the blush brush are two awesome products included in the February Mapleblume box. Have I convinced you to order the box yet? I love it when beauty boxes have every day staples. The baked blush is like a blush and bronzer in one. The color is perfect on me and it gives me a color and definition. Good makeup brushes are such an investment (aka. expensive). This Antonym blush brush is soft and high quality. I definitely recommend the baked blush (how cute is the bamboo case). Use a light hand when applying because a lot of powder gets picked up. I’m using this on my vacation and it gives me such a pretty glow!
Last but not least, a very pretty lipstick from Boosh! in the color Bobbie. Bobbie is Boosh’s newest color, and it’s described as a medium pink with warm undertones with a cream finish, straddling the line between glossy and matte. It’s one of Boosh!’s more pigmented mineral formulations, which should tint the lips longer. I found it to be a very creamy and very hydrating (it contains shea butter and orange essential oil), and I think the color should be flattering on most people. The formula is super creamy so I think it’s best to use a lip pencil to line the lips. Boosh!’s philosophy is to make lipsticks that are super safe and natural, so you can feel comfortable about what you’re putting on your lips. This is a great every day lip color and will keep your lips soft in the dry weather.
The February 2018 box is another hit from Mapleblume. It’s full of high quality every day beauty essentials from highly regarded brands. Two face creams, a beautiful blush, a versatile brush, and a hydrating lip color. It’s incredible value. And it’s products that you can really use and enjoy that won’t go disregarded in a drawer. Great to get for yourself or as a Galentine’s Day gift! Order yours here.
