My coworkers know me as someone who almost always wears a dress or a skirt to work, so whenever I wear pants everyone notices and exclaims “You’re wearing pants!” or “I’ve never seen you wear pants!”.
I find pants challenging because 1) it requires at least 2 wardrobe decisions – pants and top – whereas a dress requires only one; and 2) it’s hard to find a good fit, especially if you’re 5 feet tall like me.
When MM.LaFleur (a brand that makes up a large percentage of my work wardrobe) launched a collection of pants, I doubted they’d fit me so I didn’t place an order. Then later, when the air conditioning at my office tried to freeze my legs off every single day of the summer, I decided it might be a good idea to revisit my work pants situation. I ordered the MM Foster pants amongst a few others, and to my surprise, or maybe not since MM does workwear so well, the pants actually worked out and I kept more than one pair. The Foster pants (I’m wearing size 0P for reference) have a size zip, a comfortable waist band, just enough stretch, and even a concealed button in the hem allows you to switch the length from high to low. I love the fit so much I bought it in the Russet color as well.
I love dresses and will always wear them because they make me feel so great, but I’m going to feature some more pants on the blog in the next little while. Some for the office and some for going out.
How do you feel about wearing pants? Do you have a favorite pair/brand?
