I came back from New York on Wednesday night just in time to have some dumplings with my family for Chinese New Year. It’s great to be back in Vancouver. My Banana Republic fur-trimmed parka is more than sufficiently warm for Vancouver but it was totally inadequate for the extreme weather in New York without layers and layers underneath. Almost every second person I saw wore a Canada Goose parka and it made me want one more than ever.
On the last leg of my return trip I was in a tiny plane with no entertainment, no wifi, and no urge to nap so after chatting with the man sitting next to me and eating my snacks, I browsed my Kindle library and started a book called The Rosie Project. It turned out to be a book I cannot put down. Since I’ve been back I’ve squeezed in reading time every chance I can get. I’ve been reading on elevator rides at work and when I learned I’d need to wait for Bahram (it’s usually the other way around), I immediately took out my phone and started reading. It’s so good. I love being lost in a great book, and it’s been a while since I’ve read fiction because I’ve spent the last several years reading almost exclusively non-fiction.
Have you read any good books lately? Is it cold where you live, and if so, how are you staying warm?
