After years of trying liquid foundations that took forever to apply, left my skin dry, made me look oily, looked darker after a few hours, or just simply failed to deliver, I decided to forget about them completely. While my love for makeup stayed strong and my collection of blushes, lip colors, eyeliners and the like grew, I stopped even glancing at the little vials and glass bottles of liquid foundation at the makeup counter. I had found a 4-in-1 powder that I loved, ordered after viewing an impressive demonstration on the Shopping Channel, and it was all I used in the realm of foundation along with the occasional dab or two of tinted moisturiser for a soft and dewy look for the last four or so years.
Enter Armani ‘Maestro’ Fusion Foundation a few months ago. I tried an application of it at Holts – my first liquid foundation application in years – because I read that it had a breakthrough dry oil formulation. A lot of people couldn’t run away faster from products with oils but I love them. You need only a drop, and as soon as you start blending it into your skin the dry oils “evaporate”, leaving matte, soft-focus, amazing looking skin. I was very excited by what I saw so I took home a sample and started using it every morning.
Reasons why Armani ‘Maestro’ Fusion Foundation is a beauty game-changer:
1. It’s very very easy to apply. I use my fingers and it takes just a few seconds. No wasted foundation on brushes!
2. It looks good all day. If you have combination to oily skin, you will love this. You’ll barely need to blot midday, if at all. My T-zone gets pretty oily but I couldn’t believe how flawless my makeup looked in the afternoon. I say makeup but I couldn’t believe how perfect my skin looked, because you won’t look like you’re wearing foundation. I’ve applied it over different moisturisers, a light one one and a richer one, and it was effective over both.
3. It feels really good on my skin.
It took me two different samples to find the right color match – I started with a 4.5 then eventually bought the 5.5 – so I recommend you take a sample home to try away from department store lighting. It has the subtlest scent that adds to the enjoyment of the application process. I still use my trusty 4-in-1 powder to get more sunscreen coverage, but I don’t think this foundation requires a setting powder.
