AmorePacific Moisture Bound Tinted Treatment Moisturizer SPF 15 and Natural Protector SPF 30.
Hi there! Sorry for the break in blogging. I’ve been offline for the past week watching soccer, attending tennis camp, and raising newborn chicks (the cutest thing ever). I need a technology that puts my thoughts directly on my blog, fully edited, with pretty graphics, and maybe with a few witty jokes without any effort, you know? I hope you’ve all been enjoying your summers. BC is in the middle of some forest fires and one of them is near Vancouver, so we’ve been covered by a cloud of smoke for the last few days and the air smells like campfire. It makes me want to go camping, to be honest!
So let’s talk about Korean beauty! I think it’s well established that Koreans know their skincare. Many of my friends and family have at least one Korean product in their beauty regimen. Even though I am half Korean (fun fact), I didn’t hop on the Korean skincare train until recently.
I decided to start with a brand called AmorePacific that has gained popularity in North America. Its parent company has a large beauty portfolio including brands like Sulwhasoo. When I think “Asian brand” I wishfully think “inexpensive”, which unfortunately is not a category this brand falls into. However, I was and am not one to shy away from beauty products based on price (hello bathroom full of department store purchases) so I gave this one a go.
I’ll start by taking about the AmorePacific Moisture Bound Tinted Treatment Moisturizer SPF 15 and Natural Protector SPF 30.
AmorePacific Natural Protector SPF 30 – I tried the sunscreen lotion as a sample and liked it so much I purchased the full size version as soon as the sample was finished. I find most sunscreens difficult to absorb and drying shortly after. The AmorePacific sunscreen feels no different than a regular daytime moisturizer. It’s hydrating, easy to apply, and absorbs quickly. I can apply my foundation and powder and blush as usual with no problems on top. The SPF 30 is an added bonus. If you prefer products that are completely fragrance-free, this one might be a little strongly scented, but I don’t mind it. I apply this to my neck, chest, and arms when I don’t feel like wearing heavier sunscreens. There’s a sample of this sunscreen in Sephora’s Sun Safety Kit.
AmorePacific Moisture Bound Tinted Treatment Moisturizer SPF 15 – This is one of my favorite beauty products right now. I’d given up on tinted moisturizers before trying this. I’ve tried many top-rated ones but they’re all neither hydrating enough to be a moisturizer nor tinted enough to be a foundation. Or they’re too tinted or too greasy. You get my point. Just not quite right. The AmorePacific tinted moisturizer hits the nail on the head. It gives me a really nice glow (I love it as an under eye concealer/highlighter), and my face actually feels sufficiently moisturized. On some days I only wear the tinted moisturizer and go without foundation. When it first goes on you might feel that it’s just slightly too moist and heavy, but it quickly settles in. It has the same scent as the Natural Protector, which may or may not be a deterrent, but you don’t need a lot and my skin is not irritated by the scent. I highly recommend giving this a try! I wear shade 104.
