I spent all of my summers growing up in China on my grandparents’ farm in the countryside. I have many fond memories of raising chickens, ducks, and geese, and waking up before dawn to pick beans to sell to vendors. Farms hold a very special place in my heart. Even though I love high rises and city living, nothing makes me feel more at peace and at home than when I’m on a farm. I felt very fortunate to be invited to Easter dinner at a farm on the weekend. A getaway from the city was exactly what I needed and the weather was perfect. These photos show what I wore to dinner that day, but I was also able to take photos of other outfits on the beautiful property, which I can’t wait to share with you.
One word on my outfit: jeggings. When jeggings (jean leggings) first came out, I thought they were ridiculous. I was certain I’d never wear them. However, I love to wear boots, and I had trouble stuffing my regular jeans into boots, so I started seeing the value in jeggings. I ended up buying the pair of Citizens of Humanity jeggings that I’m wearing here. They were the most expensive jeans I’ve ever purchased, but I’m happy to say that I’ve worn them more often than any other pair I own. If you don’t already own a pair, I highly recommend you get a pair. It’s great for going out in the colder months. You can wear them very easily with boots because there’s no bunching and they are much warmer than tights. I’m wearing them with riding boots in this post. They also look great with ankle boots, sandals, and flats (though I’d never wear them with flats because I’d look even shorter). I recommend investing in a quality pair like the Citizens of Humanity ones I’m wearing (get the style here) because they are very high quality and comes with a zipper and pockets. Basically, they’re more jeans than leggings. There are lots of inexpensive jeggings that you pull-on like tights that come without zippers or pockets. They are more leggings than jeans, and they look very casual. I own a $15 pair like that and it lost its shape and elasticity very quickly. I’ve owned the Citizens of Humanity pair for two years now and it’s the same as when I bought it.
The mint blouse I’m wearing was also a purchase from two years ago, and now that mint is all the rage, I’m patting myself on the back for being so fashion forward and such a trend setter. Enjoy the photos below!
I am in love with my new Balenciaga animal print booties that I found on my work-trip to Orlando. I wasn’t sure how they’d fit into my wardrobe but I couldn’t let them go back on the shelf so I wore them while I tried on dresses and jeans. Once I realized how comfortable they were, I had to get them.
I’m having so much fun with photoshoots. I love the whole process. I love my new camera (the Canon T3i) and I love researching lenses and trying different ones. I love planning photoshoots with my friend Chris (who picked the fabulous location for this shoot), putting together outfits, and thinking about which accessories to feature next. I just finished moving as of this week, and that has allowed me (forced me) to go through all of my clothes, shoes, and beauty products. I found some skirts and shirts either buried underneath drawers or shoved to the back of the closet that I’d forgotten about. I can’t wait to wear them again. I also found lots and lots of lipsticks and lipglosses that I had “organized” a while ago and forgotten about. So much for the benefits of organizing! I look forward to showing you some of my favorite products.
