Aloe vera juice is my favorite skincare ingredient of all time. It exists in most of my favorite products. We have an aloe plant at home and break open the leaves to use the gel for cuts and mosquito bites. The Mario Badescu Aloe Vera toner is a no-frills toner that has aloe as its one and only active ingredient. I bought the 32oz bottle online and I use it alongside the multi-active toner. It is much cheaper than the Dermalogica toner, and my philosophy is, the fewer the ingredients, the less likely it is to irritate the skin. If I can find a way to make my own aloe toner, I would, because I’d rather not put parabens on my face. If any of you know of any aloe gels that do not contain parabens, let me know.

The Multi-active Toner is one of Dermalogica’s best products and is a great multifunction toner that I use everyday. To take off any remaining makeup that wasn’t removed with Cetaphil, I spray the toner on a cotton pad and wipe it across my face. I moisturize immediately afterwards, because Dermalogica claims that the toner preps the skin for better moisture absorption. This toner is also great for post-makeup application when my skin feels a little dry and a little tight. A few refreshing sprays of the multi-active toner makes my skin moist and glowy. I love that its main ingredient is aloe, which I’ve always believed to be great for the skin. It also contains extracts of lavender, lemon balm, mallow, ivy, and cucumber.
To buy: Dermalogica products can only be purchased in spas and specialty stores. Check dermalogica.com for a list of locations.

This cleanser has been on practically every Best of Beauty list and samples of it are given out in doctor’s offices everywhere. I’d be surprised if somebody hasn’t heard of it. I’ve used this cleanser for years and it does not irritate my skin no matter how often I wash my face. It is one of the most effective and inexpensive cleansers out there, especially if you buy the 1L bottles from Costco. I have one next to my sink, one in my shower, and small sample bottles for travel. I’ve tried many different cleansers, and the ones for oily skin would often cause breakouts, probably because they overdried my skin, but Cetaphil manages to clean my face without making it tight and uncomfortable. I’m a little disconcerted by the fact that there are three different parabens in the ingredients list, so I’m always open to try more natural cleansers. But for now, this is a product I can’t live without.
