How cool are these dresses? They incorporate cool prints and abstract patterns in the most vivid colors! I was browsing ASOS.com when I came across the ASOS Black line and those dresses immediately got my attention. My favorite ones are the one with green, yellow, and black stripes and the one with polka dots. Which ones do you like the most?

The entire ASOS Black collection can be browsed here (dresses range in price from $99 to $248)

Top: Banana Republic silk tank (on sale in Canada and US)
Skirt: Banana Republic sateen pencil skirt (on sale here and similar here and here)

Clutch: YSL (buy here)

A quick post before I head back to the office to prepare for my trip to the Island tomorrow morning. It’s going to be a very early start but that’s okay because I wake up every morning feeling like P. Diddy. Also, I have breakfast buffet on the ferry to look forward to. Can you believe they have dim sum in the breakfast buffet? I need to have a dining strategy!

Black and white is a pretty common combination for clothing (and couples, I think) but normally black is worn on the bottom and white is worn on top. In the summer you can mix it up with a white skirt and a black top. A lot of girls say that wearing white on the bottom makes their trunk look big, and I say STOP WORRYING.

I do most of my shopping online from American websites like Nordstrom so I make frequent trips across the border to Point Roberts, WA to pick up my packages. Before I enter the business district of Tsawwassen there’s about a 5km span of highway that’s surrounded by farmland, and that length of highway is one of my favorite routes to drive. I love seeing the endless stretch of flat farmland, the tractors that go back and forth across the perfect lines of crops, and the houses scattered throughout the acres that seem so warm and inviting. I feel ridiculously happy, at peace, and at home when I drive through that area. I lived in big cities my whole life but I spent many holidays at my grandparents’ farm in a little village in northeastern China. How does that saying go? You can take the girl out of the farm but you can’t take the farm out of the girl? I want to buy my parents a huge piece of farm land when they retire, for my benefit as much as theirs.

So after going off on that huge tangent let’s talk about my love for maxi dresses. Don’t I look tall? Like, almost 5’4? Ha! I wore ridiculously high heels for the pictures because I haven’t had a chance to get the dress hemmed. Those pumps are not made for walking. They’re made for standing still.

Summer Dressing: Trina Turk for Banana Republic

Photos by Alyssa Pizarro

Trina Turk for Banana Republic dress (buy in CAN or US) / Joe Fresh hat and sunglasses / Nine West shoes / Tommy Hilfiger belt (pink) / Jeweliette earrings

The Trina Turk for Banana Republic dress that I’m wearing is perfect for summer social activities like rooftop parties, backyard barbeques, and patio brunches. It has really wild prints that look like under-the-sea plants. It has so many colors that you can accessorize with any of the colors shown on the dress. I’ve accessorized it in two different ways. In the first one, I’m wearing a black weaved skinny belt with a black striped wide brimmed hat, which gives it a 60s garden-party vibe in my opinion. In the second one, I took off the hat and exchanged the black belt for a pink belt. Which style do you prefer? Click “More” to see the rest!
