I love free stuff. You know what’s better than free stuff? Free money. ING Direct has been giving away cash bonuses for opening their free savings account since I joined more than ten years ago. Today, they’re having a ‘Sale on Money’, where, in addition to the $25 bonus you receive for opening a savings account anytime*, you get an additional $123 if you open a free chequing account today and link your automatic payroll deposit. With only a $100 minimum deposit, that’s a 148% return on your investment! Bet you can’t get that from your stock portfolio! You don’t have to link your payroll deposit today, you just have to open an account. If you already have an ING direct savings account, opening a chequing account takes two seconds. If you are new to ING Direct, it’s a very quick form. Use the link below and we both get a bonus. Win!

I love ING Direct. No fees, high interest, and extremely easy to use. It has never made sense for me to pay fees for saving my money. The ease of use and the high interest rates has made it very easy and attractive for me to save money over the years. ING Direct makes saving money fun. With the introduction of their mutual funds, ING Direct is growing into one of the most competitive banks in the country. Without having physical branches (aka. high overhead costs), they offer no-fee accounts with much-higher-than-average interest rates. I cannot recommend ING Direct highly enough. Open one for yourself and refer your friends (you get $25 for every referral that opens an account). Open one for your kids – they offer a children’s saving account bonus too – and give them the habit of saving money. My little brother opened an account as soon as he was old enough to understand numbers and money. Take advantage of their bonus and try it out!
*If you miss the chequing account bonus, you can still get the $25 savings bonus anytime you open an account
Lollia candles are currently on clearance sale at 50% off! I recommend ordering several online as Christmas gifts. I like to have nice but generic gifts on hand that cost less than $20 for occasions where it’s proper to bring a gift but I don’t know the person very well. These will do great*. They are beautifully packaged, smell amazing (but not overpowering), and at $14.75 it’s an affordable and unique alternative to chocolate. My favorites are below.
This one is called Another Quiet Day. The website describes it as “featuring top notes of Vanilla and Heliotrope followed by Coconut, Muguet (Lilly of the Valley), Almond milk, Basmati Rice and finished with bottom notes of Creamy Sandalwood and Musk.”
Another favorite is Sleeping Under the Stars, which I have sitting on my desk. It features "top notes of Bamboo Petal, Bergamot and Dewy Water Lilly followed by Blue Water Lotus, White Freesia and finished with bottom notes of White Patchouli, Beachwood and Sheer Musk."
Great for: hostess gifts, last minute presents, office Secret Santa, distant relatives, family friends you see once a year, friends that like candles, and yourself.
If you'd rather buy it in store, Chapters has a few left, which you can check using "Find It In Store".
*Except, maybe, for firemen. I don't know how they feel about potential fire hazards.
